When I was five, my family moved to Lavonia, Georgia, just a short walk from the Lavonia-Carnegie Library. That library quickly became my second home — I spent countless hours there, devouring nearly every children’s book on the shelves. It was where my love of stories began and where my lifelong connection to libraries took root.
In June 2010, at age 20, I was hired part-time at the very same library while studying to become a lawyer. But it didn’t take long for me to realize that my heart belonged in library work, helping others discover the same joy I found there as a child.
On January 1, 2019, I became the branch manager of the Franklin County libraries, overseeing both the Royston Public Library and my beloved Lavonia-Carnegie Library. Managing the library that shaped my childhood has been an incredible honor. Six years later, I’m still inspired every day by the opportunity to serve our community, foster learning, and share the magic of libraries with others — and I hope to continue doing so for many years to come.
