I love my town library, and I love all that Carnegie stands for. I was so pleased to see Carnegie invested in my town in 1909. This library was my homework helper, my typewriter for school papers, and later my computer when I was in college as a single mom. My library was my sanctuary, my fun time with my daughter that we could afford, and inevitably the help I needed to become a teacher. I took disadvantaged teenagers to New York City every year for 16 years for business competitions — they excelled! Every year we’d read the plaque about Carnegie at Rockefeller Plaza. Now that I am retired, this completes a circle for me and one I’m so proud to share. It was tough at times, but my library was always there. That’s a legacy!
