About a dozen years ago, a non-profit group called The Friends of the San Anselmo Library was formed to help support the financial needs of the library. With their love of books, they started a used bookstore — Town Books — which gives 100 percent of its net proceeds to help fund the library. Those dollars, and those from our town, ensure the library continues to operate to this day, serving over 14,000 patrons each year (considering the population of San Anselmo is only 12,000, that’s impressive!). Town Books and the library continue to host events for authors, artists, and artisans, as both are community staples that help shape our community spirit.
