As board president, I’m honored to celebrate the Mansfield Free Public Library, our cherished Carnegie Library serving the Mansfield community for more than a century. Nestled in the beautiful Tioga River Valley at the crossroads of Routes 15 and 6, this original Carnegie building continues to be a vibrant hub for learning, discovery, and connection.
Since its founding in 1901 and the completion of the Carnegie-funded building in 1911, our library has provided invaluable services to over 6,000 residents. Today, we offer rich collections of books, audio and large-print formats, DVDs, digital materials, public computers and Wi-Fi, statewide interlibrary loans, online databases, and engaging programs for all ages.
Our mission — to provide a modern library education and reference system through printed materials, digital resources, programs, and internet access — is at the heart of everything we do.
This library thrives because of our dedicated staff, the Friends of the Library, the 1901 Society, and the enthusiastic support of our community. I’m proud of our past and excited for the future as we continue to enrich lives and strengthen connections right here in Mansfield.
