We are a beautiful rural Carnegie Library built in 1922. I have been the library director here for 20 years and have met so many wonderful patrons and made great friends. I have the best staff at Linden. When I hire someone, I tell them they are the “face” of the library, and I expect everyone to be treated special! In 2006 we did a renovation of the library, adding on a community room, a lift, and two new restrooms. The original portion of the library received new carpet and paint, but the rest was left untouched, leaving lots of character. That was a very exciting time for us! In 2017 we were nominated as the best nonprofit in Montgomery County, Indiana, by our patrons. We were honored to win the first-place grant from Hoosier Heartland State Bank. Members of our staff and board of directors attended the awards ceremony, where Eva Kor was the guest speaker. It was an honor to hear her story and meet her afterwards. In 2022 we celebrated our 100th anniversary with an open house. It was so nice to see so many old friends who had moved away but came back to celebrate with us. We are not only a library, but the hub of the community. We try to host unique events that our patrons may not get to experience elsewhere. We are proud to be a Carnegie Library!
