We were already in the process of having our front door restored when we received notification of the $10,000 gift. The bull’s-eye glass was 75 percent broken, and the door was showing all 120 years of use. The total cost was $10,520. Money doesn’t often fall from the sky, but we are very grateful to have received this gift and to be able to save the trust fund money for the next project.
So many of our patrons have expressed how beautiful the restored door looks and how relieved they are that it was not removed permanently. I like to say that after 120 years, people are still walking through that door.
